The Encyclopedia of Animation Techniques
Encyclopaedia of Animation Techniques

This is more of a how it's done, than a how to do it book.

It does cover just about every animation technique that you can think of, traditional animation, cutout animation, model animation, sand animation, computer animation and many more.

Because it covers such a wide spectrum of techniques, it would be impossible for a book of this size and low price to give full step by step instructions on how perform every task, however it does cover each method sufficiently enough for the reader to know what equipment is involved and what skills are required.

This is an ideal book for students, or would be students of animation. Many animation courses specialise in one or two techniques, but require that the students be aware of all of the other possible ways of creating animation.

It is also ideal for those people (me included) who have ever thought to themselves "now how do they do that?" A great coffee table book as well.

The Flash Webisode Production Handbook (With CD-ROM)
Flash Webisode Production

Just in case you didn't know, "a Webisode can be a number of things. It can be a single episode, a preview of things to come, or some other presentation that uses streaming media", according to the definition, in chapter 1 of this book. Webisodes can be used for entertainment, education and advertising.

Or to put it in plain English, this book gives complete instructions on how to create efficient Flash animations that don't keep the end user waiting forever for them to download.

From basic considerations like Scripts, Story boards and Character Development to more advanced techniques, such as Lip-synching and Optimising and Securing your Flash creation. Everything is explained fully, with easy to follow step by step instructions for creating the actual Flash components.

It also gives a pretty good introduction to action scripts, with half a dozen simple games for you to create.

All of the Flash files for the projects are included on the accompanying CD, together with some extra resource materials, and demo software.
