Watercolour/Watercolor Fairies
UK version
USA version
If you, your children or your grand children have
an interest in fairies then grab a copy of this book.
Apart from wonderful step by step examples for painting them, it
is also a mini reference on Fairies, Pixies, Elves, Gnomes etc.
and also information on their habitats.
Almost 130 pages of lavish illustration, instruction and information
at a bargain price. Don't miss this one. This
picture in my Expression gallery was inspired by a painting
in this book.
Note There are different versions of this book
for the UK and the US markets.
This book by self taught artist Claudia
Nice, shows the wonderful effects that can be obtained
with this combination of materials.
It has a nice section on materials and techniques, but thankfully
this is kept to a minimum (unlike many art instruction books nowadays
that seem to be half taken up by chapter after chapter on materials
and techniques)
Most of the book is devoted to step by step examples that allow
you to see how the image was created and attempt your own version.
A very nice book, no pun intended.

Atmosphere, Mood and Light: Paint
a Watercolour Landscape in Minutes
Probably not for the absolute beginner, but once
you are feeling confident with your watercolours and you really
want to add sparkle and atmosphere to your landscapes, then this
could be just the book you need.
Unlike many art books, this one doesn't have a whole chapter devoted
to materials, just two pages. I feel that by the time you are ready
for this book, you will already be happy with your chosen materials.
A couple of pages on colour mixing, two pages with a sample image
to practice your mixing skills with and then the rest of the book
is about how to achieve the effects of lighting and atmosphere in
your images, to set the desired mood.
