Corel PhotoPaint 8 - Corel Capture 8
BladePro

I bought a magazine that had a full version of BladePro on the cover CD. After an hour or so playing around filling rectangles and circles with a wide variety of weird and wonderful effects, I decided to use it in a proper image.

I was needing some images to demonstrate to my students how drawing and painting packages are moving closer and closer together, with painting packages now using vectors, and drawing packages using some wonderful fill effects.

I decided to create a product concept illustration. This type of work is usually carried out with a 3D modelling program, to allow the creation of multiple views, but I only needed a front view for the purpose of the exercise.

The image above is one of the results. It was done by creating objects in PhotoPaint, these were then textured using BladePro, although the background texture was done by using Paint Alchemy, one of the filters that came with PhotoPaint, I think that I just slightly modified one of the presets.

The screen was created by cutting and pasting bits of screen grabs from Corel Capture. The glowing text effect was done using one of the hundreds of PhotoShop filters that I have on my computer, though I couldn't remember which one if you paid me, well if you paid me enough I'd have a go...

I also did versions in Corel Draw and Xara
