This is my first full painting completed entirely in PhotoPaint. I usually use Painter for these types of images, but as my version of Painter is getting rather long in the tooth, I decided to see how much I could achieve with PhotoPaint.

I am quite pleased with the result. PhotoPaint doesn't have anywhere near the number of brush types that Painter has, but I have found that it is possible to get pretty good results anyway. The original is 2400x1800 pixels, so it has lost quite a bit of quality in getting it down to a more manageable size for the web site.

I really don't think that I will be able to justify the cost of the new version 8 of Painter, but I have just ordered the latest version of the Corel graphics suite (v11), thanks to an incredible special price on the academic version. Now if they would just do the same with Painter, I can grab that too.
