Ray Dream Studio (now succeeded by Carrara Studio)

Using the freeform modeller gives us much more control over the shape of the objects. Notice that the objects are also a lot smoother than those created with primitives.

Try to create something similar to the above image. The cup saucer and handle are all freeform models. The liquid is a flattened cylinder and the table top is a stretched, flattened cube.

This time a symmetrical extrusion envelope was used to shape both the cup and the saucer from a circle on a straight extrusion.

The cup handle is a circle on a curved extrusion, in pipeline mode, with a symmetrical in plane extrusion envelope used to further vary the shape.
